Strangely Drawn — Community Guidelines

Effective date: August 19, 2026

Strangely Drawn is an anonymous app where you share a selfie into a public pool, a stranger draws the person in that selfie, and the drawing comes back to you. Selfies and drawings are shown publicly to other people once they pass our automated review.

Because this is a public feed built on real faces, these Community Guidelines are not optional. They apply to every selfie, every drawing, every timelapse, and everything else you contribute. By using Strangely Drawn, you agree to follow them. We built the app to be a place for creativity and kindness — not for harm, harassment, or abuse.

These Guidelines work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where a word is capitalized but not defined here, it has the meaning given in the Terms.

1. What you can share

Strangely Drawn only asks for what the experience needs:

You do not create an account with your name or email. Your identity in the app is an anonymous user ID and nothing more. That anonymity is a privilege — it is not a shield for abuse, and it does not exempt you from these rules or from the law.

2. What is not allowed

The following content and behavior are prohibited anywhere in the app, including in selfies, drawings, and timelapses. This list describes the kinds of things we act on; it is not exhaustive, and we may remove content or take action for conduct that violates the spirit of these rules even if it is not listed word-for-word.

2.1 Nudity and sexual content

No nudity, sexually explicit content, or sexualized depictions of any person. This includes: - Photographs or drawings showing genitals, buttocks, or female breasts in a sexual context. - Sexual acts, whether photographed or drawn. - Content that is primarily intended to arouse, including sexualized poses or captions. - Turning someone else’s selfie into a sexual or degrading drawing.

2.2 No minors

Strangely Drawn is not for children, and children must not appear in it. - Do not upload a selfie of anyone under 13, and do not upload a selfie of a minor at all. - Never post content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is absolutely prohibited. We remove it, terminate the account, preserve information as required, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or law enforcement as required by law. - Do not draw a real person in a way that depicts them as a sexualized child.

2.3 Harassment, bullying, and threats

2.4 Hate

No content that attacks, dehumanizes, or promotes hatred or violence against people based on a protected characteristic — including race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or serious medical condition. This includes hateful symbols, slurs, and stereotypes, whether in a photo or a drawing.

2.5 Impersonation

This is a feed of real faces, so consent is central. - Only upload a selfie of yourself. Do not upload a photo of another person. - Do not upload a picture of someone who has not clearly agreed to be shared and drawn in a public app — this includes friends, strangers, public figures, and anyone photographed without their knowledge. - Do not post a drawing of a real person that is intended to harass, defame, sexualize, or endanger them.

2.7 Illegal content and activity

2.8 Violence, self-harm, and graphic content

2.9 Spam and abuse of the system

3. How we keep the feed safe

We use layered safeguards. No system is perfect, and we rely on you to help.

Automated review before content goes public. Before a selfie or drawing is shown to other people, it passes through an automated classifier that screens for nudity and other clearly objectionable content. Content that fails this check is not published.

Report. If you see something that breaks these Guidelines, use the in-app Report control on that content. Reports go to a human operator for review. Tell us what’s wrong when you can — it helps us act faster.

Block. You can Block another author. Blocking hides their content from you and prevents further interaction between your accounts within the app.

Human review. Reported content is triaged by a real person. We aim to review reports promptly, and we prioritize reports involving minors, sexual content, threats, and other serious harm.

Device integrity. At sign-in we use Apple’s App Attest to confirm the request comes from a genuine device. This deters bots and automated abuse. It is a hardware check and collects no personal information about you.

We may review, remove, or restrict content and accounts to enforce these Guidelines, comply with the law, or protect people using the app.

4. Consequences

When content or conduct violates these Guidelines, we may take one or more of the following actions, depending on severity and history:

Serious violations — including CSAM, credible threats, and sexual content — can result in immediate, permanent termination without prior warning.

Because Strangely Drawn stores a local copy of your drawings on your device, account action on our servers does not automatically remove content already saved on someone else’s device or previously delivered to another user. We remove what we control on our side.

5. Appeals and contact

If your content was removed or your account was actioned and you believe we made a mistake, you can appeal by emailing and describing what happened. Because the app is anonymous, we may not be able to tie a message to a specific account, so include any detail that would help us understand the situation (for example, roughly when and what content was involved). We review appeals and will restore content or access if we find we acted in error.

Strangely Drawn is operated by Grain Studios. These Guidelines are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

6. Changes to these Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as the app evolves and as we learn how to keep people safer. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and post the current version at https://strangelydrawn.grainlabs.io/guidelines. Continuing to use Strangely Drawn after an update means you accept the updated Guidelines.

Thanks for helping make Strangely Drawn a place worth drawing in.
